Chloé Love Story

In my dreams, the world is tinted in a rosy blush shade, peonies are blooming everywhere just waiting to be picked and the sun is always warm and glowing. Those are the three things that inspired this shoot for the new Chloé Love Story fragrance. When I smelled its floral and fresh scent, I knew I wanted to create a garden love story, a girl and her love for all things feminine. The perfect Valentine’s Day treat to oneself is always a fresh new scent. Scents can make you dream and take you to a place of their own and this would easily be my perfect Valentine’s Day.

You can create and upload your own favorite Valentine’s Day picture on instagram with hashtag #chloelovestory for a chance to be featured on the Chloé Love Story Tumblr here.

Easy Contouring On The Go

I’ve always admired that perfect contoured look that some are able to achieve, but have been intimidated by the whole process. Instead, I usually rely on my powdered bronzer to create that slightly contoured look. However, I tested out Clinique’s Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight and Contour sticks a few weeks ago and knew I had to come back here and share it with you guys! My beauty bag is slowly dwindling down and I only brought the basics and a handful of lipsticks to NYC with me (I wanted as much room for clothes, bags and shoes as I could get!)

After I finish my base makeup and mascara, I then apply the highlighter to the three spots I want highlighted on my face- above the eyebrows, bridge of my nose and cheekbones. Next, apply the bronzer under your cheekbones and a tiny bit on the sides of your nose. Slowly rub in the product so that it creates a creamy, contoured glow. The bronzer instantly gives you more defined cheek bones and the highlighter makes even the most tired skin look bright and rested. I just use a swipe of lipgloss to finish off the look and then I’m out the door!

Max Mara Coat (similar here, here, here and here) , Polo Ralph Lauren Sweater c/o, J.Crew Skirt (20% off), DVF Collar, Prada Bag, Dior Sunglasses, Topshop Gloves, Commando Tights, Rachel Pally BeltStuart Weitzman Boots

Although I’ve been reducing my wardrobe to more neutral shades, blush and pinks are still in the forefront. I’ve worn this blush coat numerous times on the blog (here and here) and too many times to count off the blog. It’s a fresh color for winter, especially in a sea of black, but is also an easy hue to wear into spring and summer. I mixed it with a few old and new pieces for a beautiful day in NYC.

I had the wonderful opportunity of partnering up with TRESemmé this fashion week, covering some of the shows that they were doing and working with their stylists to create fun looks for the week. I loved the experience because it really got me excited about trying out new hairstyles, switching up my look and learning tips and tricks so I can recreate them all at home. I looked to both online and the runway for styles to use as inspiration and this messy side ponytail (inspired by this look) ended up being my favorite of the week. My hairstyles are usually on the polished side, making sure everything is even, clean and in place, so going with a more disheveled “un-done” look was a nice change. Sometimes the hardest looks to achieve are the ones that are meant to look effortless, like you just rolled out of bed (#iwokeuplikethis) especially for those of us with thick, straight hair. My stylist Johnny used TRESemmé’s Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray to give my hair the texture it needed to get that “next day” look and finished it off with TRESemmé’s Perfectly (un)Done Hairspray to keep it all in place. I’ll be sharing a few of my other favorite looks from fashion week over the next few weeks along with a tutorial, so keep your eyes out!

Three Looks For NYFW

Look 1: CH Carolina Herrera Jacket, J.Crew Blouse, Co Pants, Dior Bag, Marni Belt, Topshop Gloves
Look 2: Tibi Trench (borrowed), Banana Republic Shirt, Gap Sweater (old, similar here and here), MiH Jeans c/o, Stuart Weitzman Boots, Prada Bag, Equipment Scarf, Topshop Gloves
Look 3: kate spade new york blouse & coat c/o, Express Skirt, Gucci Boots, Dior Bag, Topshop Gloves

As I mentioned in this post last week, I partnered up with TRESemmé this year during fashion week, which got me really inspired to try new looks and be more creative. I got to work with a TRESemmé stylist to come up with beautiful hairstyles inspired by the runway and learn tips and tricks to bring back and share with you all!

The  first hairstyle that we created was the low bun made up of two fishtail braids crossed over twice. I wanted something swept away from my face since the bow from my blouse made such a statement. I was amazed by how the results came out- it looks way more complicated than it actually is and I plan on recreating it for you guys soon. The second look was a full halo braid, something I’ve never done before. I’m a big fan of the milkmaid or crown braid, but I never knew where to start or end with the halo. My stylist talked me through the whole process and I learned a few pro tips that are complete game changers when doing braids! The last look we created during fashion week was a retro inspired half-up do that we transitioned into from this look. Since my hair already had a lot of texture and volume from the previous hairstyle, it was easy to take it out of the ponytail and pin a few pieces back. An easy look for next-day hair! My stylist used the TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray, TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Wave Creation Sea Foam and TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Hairspray from their new collection to help create all three looks.

Retro Half Up Hair Tutorial

In case you haven’t followed along, I’ve shared all my looks (here and here) that I created with my TRESemmé hairstylist during NYFW, so now it’s time for tutorials to show you guys some of the tips and tricks I learned. One of my favorites of the group, that’s simple and easy to do in the morning, was the retro half-up look. It doesn’t have to be perfect and actually looks a little better when it’s slightly messy and disheveled. In order to get that undone look, you have to add a lot of texture to your hair so that it holds throughout the day. You can follow my steps below and see the pictures to achieve this half-up hairstyle:

– First, Pump TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Wave Creation Sea Foam into your fingers
– Add foam to bottom of clean hair for texture
– Part hair in the center
– Put hair half up to separate for curling and add TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray to the bottom layer
– Start curling your hair towards your face
– Continue curling until all hair on the bottom layer is curled
– Let down the rest of your hair and curl away from face (opposite way of the bottom layer)
– Continue curling then brush out curls with a comb
– Spray curls with TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Hairspray
– Add TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray to crown of your hair for texture
– Tease hair at crown to add volume
– Brush back and smooth out the crown of your hair, it should look slightly higher
– Pin back hair on both sides with two bobby pins
– Spray it with TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Hairspray to hold
– Mess up curls to get that slightly disheveled look and finish off with with one last  TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Hairspray
– Done!

What other looks would you love to see a tutorial on?

Video: Beach Curls Tutorial

A new video is finally live on my Youtube channel! After a long break, I hope to be sharing these more often, so please feel free to leave comments letting me know what you’d like to see. The hairstyle I wear the most (and get the most video requests for) is my everyday loose, beachy-y curls, so I wanted to start with that first.

We shot this tutorial back when we were in the Caribbean and it’s how I wore my hair pretty much everyday (this post was shot right after we made the video). The video follows each step in order to achieve these beach curls, but here is a breakdown for further reference:

- Start with damp hair and apply whichever hair product you like to the ends of your hair (I use Lea Journo’s Glossing Cream)
– Dry hair then separate hair and put top half up
– Start with a 1 1/4 inch barrel curling iron and take a small section of hair to curl away from your face
– Curl next section towards your face
– Continue curling back and forth in the same pattern
– Take down top half of hair and make a deep side part
– Curl front section towards your face
– Brush out curls with your fingers and mess up a little! The less perfect, the better.
– Done!

You can subscribe to my Youtube channel here to be updated when new videos are live!

New-In Beauty Products

I’m constantly trying out new beauty products, from skincare to makeup to lotions and more and I love getting to come back here to share my favorite recent finds with you guys. I’ve mentioned it before, but I could talk about beauty for hours and hours and usually when I get the opportunity to meet Gal Meets Glam readers in person, it’s the first thing we discuss! Always feel free to share your favorite products, what works for you or what you’re excited about trying. It’s a two way street and I love hearing your feedback and experiences as well!

A few of my recent beauty finds & loves…

Doucce Punk Volumizing Mascara in “Black”- I’ve been using this mascara (mixed in with my other favorite, bareMinerals “Lash Domination”) since the beginning of the year. I’m ultra picky with my mascaras and it’s rare that I add a new one into my mix, but I love the brush and lengthening of this one. Try it out for yourself to see!

Laura Geller Beauty Lipgloss in “French Press Rose”- By now you must all know my obsession with blush and all things pink. I usually wear a very neutral lipgloss (Bobbi Brown’s “Pink Beige” &  “Petal” and Esteé Lauder’s “Nude Rose”). I like this “Fresh Press Rose” shade by Laura Geller because it has a softer, more feminine color, pairing perfectly with my favorite shade.

Penhaligon’s Ellensia Soap Box- Buy this, smell it, and thank me later. It’s like heaven in a soap and doesn’t hurt that it’s also pretty to look at. I plan on using the soap box for something after since it’s just as pretty.

Penhaligon’s Ellensia Hand & Body Cream- This smells just like the soap, but it’s the body lotion version. After being in the Caribbean for two weeks and picking up a nice little tan along the way, my skin became ultra-dry when I got home (especially after the NYC cold). I’ve been lathering this on right after I get out of the shower.

RGB Nude Polish & RGB Top Coat- I’ve been really terrible about keeping up my nails lately, especially when traveling often. I picked up this nude shade by RGD that’s a nail foundation and polish, so it keeps my nails healthy while providing a subtle, manicured look. A neutral color or light pink have been my go-to’s recently since they’re not as obvious when chipped or in need of an update. I finish off all of my polishes with RGB’s Top Coat.

The No-Makeup Makeup/ Two Ways

I’m always trying to find the perfect balance between no makeup and makeup. It’s not that I don’t feel comfortable going sans makeup in public places, but I do feel a little better with some under eye concealer and color on my cheeks. Especially during the warmer months, I want my skin to breathe and have a nice, subtle glow. While I’ll leave the completely bare skin (does tinted moisturizer count?) to the gym, beach and at home, I’ve found a few products that cover just enough but still give that more natural look I’m always wanting.

For starters, I don’t apply any eye makeup for my everyday look. I begin with just a small amount of concealer under my eyes (this is my favorite) and a light dusting of bareMinerals Orginal foundation. I then add Laura Geller’s Bronzer that gives that perfect sun-kissed look. You can actually add it on wet (just dampen the body puff) and it will give a beautiful shimmer to your cheeks. Instead of a highlighter, I’ve opted to use Vapour Oragnic’s Radiant Blush that still highlights the top of my cheekbones. It also works beautifully as a lip or eye color. I’m a big proponent of having color of my lips, even if it’s a slightly tinted lip balm. Color just makes you look more alive and healthy. I’m wearing a mix of Laura Geller’s Lip Crayons in “Honey Fizz” and “Mango Sorbet”. Lastly, I’ll add a tiny bit of Gorgeous Cosmetics Powder Blush to the apples of my cheeks.

If my husband and I are going out to dinner or I’m meeting the girls for drinks, I’ll add two more steps to my beauty routine in the evening. I’ll first apply a very subtle amount of mascara, just enough to give my lashes some curl. My recent favorite is this Punk Volumizing Mascara by Doucce (that I last talked about here) I’ll then add a brighter or bolder lip color to complete the look- I’m wearing Gorgeous Cosmetics Lipsticks in “Quinn” here with this lip pencil in “Tangerine”

Skin Refresher

Over the past few months, I’ve felt more confident than ever before going sans makeup, not only in public, but on a more consistent basis. Can you guys tell? I think I’ve appeared without makeup on the blog more times over the last four months than I have in the four years that I’ve had GMG. The truth is that I’ve been really focusing on what my skin is lacking and making sure I’m taking the best care of it that I can. So instead of hiding my dark circles under layers of concealer, I’m making sure I’m nourishing that delicate skin by hydrating it.

Skin Inc. reached out to me at the beginning of the year, and as one who is always open to trying new beauty products, I went ahead and took their Skin Identity test to see what was best for me. With 84 possible combinations of serums, Skin Inc. is all about customization. By filling out the Skin Identity test you’ll receive a serum that’s right for your skin based on your needs or problem areas. Since it’s customized to you, your targeting the exact needs of your skin so there’s no “testing” around to see which products work best.  I received a package in the mail a few days later with the serums and products that were recommended for my skin- the French Pine Bark, Licorice and Chlorella Serum and the Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask. I tested out the products for the next few weeks and they quickly became favorites in my beauty cabinet. I always tell people that the life of beauty products are fickle- we all have our favorites and in order for a new product to make it into our everyday routine, we have to see results. If I don’t see anything within a couple weeks, it gets tossed aside and I forget about it. It doesn’t matter if it smells nice or feels great, the health of my skin is what I’m really looking for! Since we travel often, I’m always trying to keep my skin hydrated and looking fresh and I love that the serums selected for me have helped calm, protect and brighten my skin. The results are absolutely noticeable, resulting in my wanting to keep my skin in it’s natural, glowy state and not put any makeup over it.

Since then, I’ve re-ordered both the serums and the hydrating mask because I used every last drop! I mixed all three serums together and use them twice a day when I wash my face- once in the morning and once at night. Obsessed is an understatement- I love these serums! Fact: I started to break out while we were in Mexico in March. Luckily, I brought the serums and hydrating mask with me, used them consistently and within two days, my skin cleared right up. I can’t say enough amazing things about them. I use the Hydrating Mask a few times a week before bed and always wake up to glowing skin.

In addition to being available on their website, the Skin Inc.’s custom skincare solution is also available in select Sephora stores.

It has been way too long since my last beauty post! Now that we’ve been home for a little bit now, I’ve had time to get back to my usual beauty routine. I try to pack my beauty bag pretty light while traveling, so I don’t get to test out or switch up my routine as much as I like to. When I’m home, my routine varies every morning and night depending on what my skin is telling me it needs that day- a thicker moisturizer, an overnight serum, a deep cleansing mask or an eye treatment. I have a few new products as well as old favorites that are at the top of my beauty loves right now…

Good skin starts from within and Thomas and I both try and stick to clean, healthy eating as much as possible. It’s definitely more difficult while traveling since we’re tempted by local cuisines and eating out, so it feels good to get home and cook simple, whole foods. I’ve been drinking more water each day by simply adding a bit of fruit or mint to my water bottle. We also both love David’s tea and stock up on our favorites to have at home as well as on the road. My two faves are “The Glow” and “Forever Nuts” (it tastes like banana nut bread).

Staying hydrated throughout the day is probably one of the best things you can do for your skin (aside from getting a good night’s sleep). I can always tell when I’m not drinking enough water because my lips get really dry and start peeling. I love this Lalicous Sugar Kiss Lip Butter that’s a blend of shea butter and soy to leave your lips feeling extra soft and nourished.

I’ve been a fan of DDF products for a long time (I used their Salicylic face wash for years) and just recently picked up the Daily Protective Moisturizer with SPF. I usually have a handful of moisturizers in my beauty cabinet at all times, especially since I go through them fairly quickly with my dry skin. An esthetician turned me onto their products back when I was in college and I love how light and smooth this one feels (not oily or too thick). Along with the moisturizer, I started using their Erase Eye Gel to target my dark circles. A good eye cream or gel is a must while traveling!

I also had been wanting to try out Indie Lee’s skincare line and purchased the Rosehip Cleanser, which I’m loving so far, especially when used with my Clarisonic. It’s gentle enough for sensitive skin and smells amazing.

I’ve mentioned GLAMGLOW’s Youthmud Mask on the blog before but I’ll sing its praises again. If I’m seeing any sort of breakout or need a skin boost, I use this mask. I referred so many family and friends onto it and they’re hooked. I’m also trying to share more of my day to day beauty products on my snapchat (@galmeetsglam) since it’s the easiest way to share daily beauty info!

Let’s talk about hair. This is probably one of the most popular topics for emails and comments that come through. The truth is that no one’s hair is really the same. We all have different textures, thicknesses, lengths and colors, so I can only speak for myself and what has worked best for my hair. I have naturally stick straight, super thick hair that has a very soft texture. I’ve wanted natural waves or curly hair since I was little (I even convinced my mom to let me get a perm in the 5th grade- not so cute), fine “cool girl” hair and texture that looks effortless and tousled. It seems that we always want what we don’t have, am I right? So over the years, I have embraced what I was born with and I try to keep my hair as natural as possible to keep it healthy and shiny.

I’ve been using Sans Ceuticals Balancing Hair Wash & Hydrant every other day. This new-to-me line is both pure and chemical free and leaves my hair feeling hydrated and bouncy. The Balancing wash and hydrant are for ‘normal’ hair types but they also have a Nourishing and Volumising wash and hydrant for dry, damaged or fine hair.

I wash and condition my hair every other day and switch off between using Sans Ceuticals Moisture & Protein Infusion and Sans Ceuticals Shine Corrector. Both serums are meant to be applied and rinsed out after washing your hair. I’m obsessed with the Moisture & Protein Infusion, within a few weeks I could really see a difference in the health of my hair.

I try my best to keep as much heat off of my hair as possible. Instead of blow drying it, I opt to let it air dry and I almost never use a straightener. I do however, use a curling iron at least twice a week to try and get those curls I’ve always wanted. I recently got this GHD Classic Wave Wand and it is hands down the best curling iron I’ve ever used. I waited so long to invest in a nice curling iron and I have no idea why. I love this one in particular because it heats up extremely fast (less than 20 seconds!) and my curls last all day long. I’ve also always used a 1 1/4 inch barrel to keep my waves soft and relaxed.

I honestly couldn’t tell you the last time I used a brush on my hair. I’ve been using a wide tooth comb for years and years and believe that it has helped minimize hair breakage, letting my hair grow much longer. Even when I get my hair done at the salon, I ask my stylist to use a wide tooth comb or his fingers to brush through and blow dry my hair if necessary.

Healthy Natural Hair Tips

At the end of the day, the best thing you can possibly do for your hair (skin and nails included!) is feed your body the nutrients and vitamins it needs. As they say, “beauty starts from within”. Well, your outer appearance is actually a reflection of your insides. If you’re feeding yourself junk, you’re going to see it in your skin and hair! I’m no expert in nutrition, but just making sure you’re eating real, whole foods instead of packaged goods will make all the difference in the world.

Esteé Lauder New Dimension Shape + Sculpt Eye Kit, Shape + Sculpt Face Kit, Shape + Fill Expert Serum

My favorite beauty looks are the ones that appear as natural as possible. I don’t want to feel or look like I have layers of makeup on and over the past couple of years, I’ve been narrowing down my products to the bare minimum. I first and foremost focus on my skincare, so that my base (my natural skin) can look its best. I now use my makeup to only enhance features instead of covering things up. This natural contoured look is one of the most subtle but dramatic beauty looks because it defines the features that I want accentuated without having to put on a lot of makeup.

gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder17
gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder23

One of my go-to beauty looks is a simple, fresh contoured looking face. Going back to my focus on enhancing features, adding a bit of highlight and contouring can add a subtle but noticeable difference. My first step before the process is to add Estée Lauder’s New Dimension Shape + Fill Expert Serum. I use the Shape + Fill Expert Serum all over my face before I apply my moisturizer. This helps to slowly define the look of your cheeks and jawbone over just a few short weeks.

gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder

gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder1

To create a natural contoured look, I start with Esteé Lauder’s New Dimension Shape + Sculpt Face Kit. The palette comes with one contour shade and one highlight shade. Before applying any other makeup, I add the contour shade under my cheekbones and along my jawline to slightly define each of them. It’s important to blend in the contour as much as possible to make it look as natural as possible. Again, my goal is to lightly define not look like I have layers and layers of makeup on. Since my face is still dewy from my beauty products, the matte cream blends in perfectly.

gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder13
gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder10

I then add the highlight to my nose, cheekbones and brow bone to give that luminous glow.

gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder8
gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder7

I rarely wear eyeshadow since I find that it’s too much color for my face, so I love using Esteé Lauder’s New Dimension Shape + Sculpt Eye Kit to still enhance my eyes. The trio comes with steps to smooth, highlight and contour. First, I apply the creamy base to prep my lid before applying the highlighter under my eyebrows and on the inner corner of my eyes. This brightens up the eyes and makes even the most tired eyes look awake and fresh. I lastly apply the contour to the crease my of lid to add that natural definition we’re always looking for.

gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder2

gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder6
gal-meets-glam-estee-lauder4

Lastly, I make sure everything is blended in together just right. The results are natural and dewy, just enough to leave the house as-is or the perfect base to apply a bit more (foundation, mascara and a lip).

Look 2: Michael Kors Dress, Marni Belt (old, similar here), Louboutin Pumps, Fendi Bag, Hermès Watch

Thomas and I are already back home from New York Fashion Week and we had a whirlwind trip with the TRESemmé team. I partnered up with them again this season to showcase the hairstyles not only backstage and on the runway but the looks I wore all throughout the week. I had the luxury of getting my hair done every morning by a TRESemmé hair stylist, which allowed me to try out some styles I normally wouldn’t think of on my own and learn some tips and tricks, which I’ll be sharing in this post and a few more to come.

gal-meets-glam-nyfw32

The first two days of fashion week were a mix of warm, rainy weather. So my stylist and I decided to try hairstyles that worked in my favor for this. The first day, we went for a straight, sleek look parted down the middle and the second day, we pulled it back into an “effortless” looking updo.

gal-meets-glam-nyfw24

gal-meets-glam-nyfw33

My hair is naturally straight, so usually when I let it air dry, it has more of a messy-straight look to it. My stylist elevated this look by first adding a bit of the TRESemmé Runway Get Sleek Blow Dry Balm and then straightening my hair with a straightener adding a few face framing pieces. She also added a bit more volume to the crown of my hair by teasing and using the TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Finishing Hairspray to finish the look off.

The second updo we created was one of my favorites from the week. The results were unexpected and glamorous but relaxed and effortless all at once. The stylist started off by adding a little of the TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Sea Foam to my hair before curling it and pulling it back into a bun and pinning it.

For the first day of shows, I wore this white Alexis dress (I’m wearing an xs) with my blush pink Valentino pumps and black accessories. Alexis makes some of the most beautiful lace and crochet dresses like one, this one and this one. If the weather was cool enough to allow it, I would have worn a leather jacket or cashmere coat over it.

I purchased this Michael Kors shirtdress on major sale a few months back and I know it will remain a favorite find for years. There is an understated elegance to a simple dress like this but by no means is it basic. I found a few other similar black shirtdress options here, here and here.

Without a doubt, my favorite hairstyle that I created with TRESemmé for NYFW was this half-up braid I wore in this post. It was a reader favorite as well and got the most requests for a tutorial, so I put together a quick step-by-step process on how to recreate this effortless style. I made sure to ask my stylist for any tips and pointers and of course, which products to use to get the best results to recreate at home.

I always start with clean, straight hair as my base. Next, I separate my hair into two halves, putting the top half into a bun on the top of my head. I then curl the bottom half away from my face, making sure to leave the ends out (uncurled). I’m using a 1 1/4″ GHD Soft Curl Iron.

Next, I take down the second half of my hair and repeat the same steps as before.

I then add a bit of TRESemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo to the crown of my hair to refresh my roots.

Next, I use a bit of TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Sea Foam to add texture and volume to my roots so that my hair won’t be too soft and fall apart when I’m creating the braid.

I then make a deep side part before I take the two front pieces and bobby pin them back, making sure that the part stays in place.

I then start to french braid my hair right under the bobby pins. Slowly add in hair, stopping when you reach the base of your head, continuing with a regular braid and leaving the rest of your down underneath.

I finish off with pulling a few pieces down in front of my face to create that “effortless” look so it’s not too perfect or pulled together. The reason why I love this look is because the braid is a little messy and disheveled but still so pretty. Top off with TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Hairspray to make sure the look holds throughout the day.

Voilà! There you have it, the messy-but-romantic half-up braid!

We transition our wardrobes and styles into fall and I also believe that we should transition our makeup routines! I keep my base the same and don’t make any drastic changes, but subtle ones that feel appropriate for the colors and the warmth of the season. I bring more warm tones to my cheeks and eyes and less pigmented colors on my lips. Here are a few of my favorite fall makeup products at the moments.

I usually let me eyebrows just “be” as they’re already full and dark. But lately I’ve been using this Laura Geller Brow Sculpting Marker to define/add a little more definition and slightly fill in the softer areas. It leaves them feeling very natural and not too dramatic, which I never feel comfortable with.

My eyes switch between blue-green and green-hazel depending on the colors I’m wearing. I used this Gorgeous Cosmetics “All In One Blue Eyes” to pull out the more blue-green shades. I start with “Dune”, the sand color, and apply to the lid of my eyes.

I then use the “Fab” chocolate shade to deepen the crease of my eyes and then add a tiny of the “Peach Sunset” shade to the inner part of the eyes for a warm pop.

Next, I apply a coat of one of my favorite mascaras, Doucce “Punk Volumizing Mascara” in black.

I add a warm glow to my cheeks with the Laura Geller’s “Baked Color & Contour” Palette. It has a contour shade, a blush shade and a highlighter shade that create the ultimate soft combination.

Lastly, a swipe of Lipstick Queen’s “Sinner” lipstick makes the finishing touch on this fall beauty look.

Lipstick Colors:

(In Order) Dior Addict Lipstick: “Power”, “Be Dior”, “Wonderful”, “Fashion Night”, “Riviera

I’m not afraid to admit it, I’m a lipstick addict. It’s my favorite way to switch up my beauty routine or add a pop of color. I’ve always been a lipstick girl! I love how a bright color can bring so much life to your face, or a soft shade can add a finishing touch to your look. Regardless if it’s a bold hue or a barely there one, a little color can go a long way. I’ve picked out my five favorite Dior Addict Lipstick shades that are all uniquely different but easily wearable.

This first shade (in the photo on the left) is Dior Addict Lipstick in “Power”, a light coral color that would complement a minimal makeup, sun kissed look. The second lipstick on the right is “Be Dior”, a much more glam look in my opinion. “Be Dior” is the ultimate fashion accessory, and perfectly named after the iconic Be Dior handbag. The pink shade has a slight shimmer to it, perfect for the upcoming holiday season.

My third favorite shade is “Wonderful”, the prettiest pale pink lipstick I ever did see. I’ll usually wear a shade like this to add a soft touch to an all black look. The color on the right is a deeper, purple hue called “Fashion Night”. I would definitely save this one for an evening night out, as it’s name implies.

My last pick is “Riviera”, an orangey-red color. I probably wear this shade most often as it works for both day-time and evening. If you’re going to have one lipstick shade that really pops, I would recommend this one, as it pairs with a lot of colors and looks universally flattering on different skin tones.

3 Unique Ways To Style A Brooch

Details:

Look 1: Ganni Dress (also similar here), Sweet & Spark Vintage Brooch (similar here)

Look 2: Carolina Herrera Coat, Gap Sweater (similar here), J.Crew Skirt (similar here), Sweet & Spark Vintage Brooches

Look 3: BCBG Dress, Sweet & Spark Vintage Necklace (similar here) & Brooch (similar here)

After picking up a few brooches from my girlfriend Jillian, who owns Sweet & Spark, I’ve been wanting to create new ways to wear them other than on a dress or the collar of my coat. A brooch is an accessory that I’ve never really incorporated into my style, but after seeing Jillian’s recent post on 9 ways to style a brooch, I was inspired to create my own 3 unique ways.

I love the look of a vintage brooch used as a hair accessory. It’s an easy look to create, especially for the upcoming holiday season. I just slipped two bobby pins onto the pin of the brooch and clipped it to my messy curls. The result is glam without being too “much”.

Gal Meets Glam Unique Ways To Wear a Brooch

For the second look, add two brooches to the neck of a sweater or blouse. It creates the illusion of a collar to an otherwise plain piece. I picked two matching brooches for this particular look, but you can use mismatched brooches for more eclectic style.

The key to creating this hairstyle is finding the right type of brooch. A piece that has a curved shape to it and will lay flat like this one, this one, this one or this one will give you the best results.

Adding a brooch to a necklace is a simple way to create something new out of two pieces you may already own. I added this vintage pink pin to my classic rhinestone necklace to create a unique statement piece. Selecting a round shaped piece, like this one, this one, this one or this one to add to a necklace works best.
